Tips for Parents: How to best prepare your child for school each day
Be sure to check your child's Take-Home folder daily for communication from his/her teacher. Also remember to sign and return the folder to school daily. Read Aloud 15 minutes every day Just 15 minutes a day can make a world of difference in your child's life. To make this easy, make reading with your child a part of your daily routine. Read before bedtime, dinner or snack time. Make it fun! Funny voice, sound effects, etc. Practice number recognition & math facts: Kindergarten is working on identifying numbers 0 to 10 and then during 2nd quarter they will increase to 12, 13...20. First grade continues to work with a hundreds chart to reinforce number recognition and which number is greatest and least. We have also been working on learning addition strategies, as well as drawing pictures to solve word problems. Third grade students have reviewed place value of two and three digit numbers, as well as adding and subtracting with regrouping. We have been using repeated addition to multiply single digits. Third graders are encouraged to learn their multiplication facts! |
Homework Help:
Your child will bring home daily practice assignments for reading, math and spelling. Please set aside a time and place at home for completing homework. Return the work to school in a timely manner. |
